Cassidy McDermott Smith

Cassidy McDermott Smith(she/they) is a dancer, choreographer, movement director, and educator based on Gadigal Country. A graduate of Point Park University (United States), her choreographic and performance practice has been supported by Dirty Feet, The Lock Up, Critical Path, Dance Makers Collective, Ausdance, and March Dance Festival. Her current works include Pull Me Closer, a science fiction dance performance investigating space travel, the Anthropocene, and stories of connection and Tracks, a multi-channel film work examining public transport, individualism, and anonymity. She also performs with drummer Chloe Kim, collaborating to create works that fuse movement and percussion, which explore endurance, rhythm, and cross-disciplinary communication. In theatre, Cassidy has worked with director Eugene Lynch on productions including From Morning to Midnight (The Opera Centre), The Pigeons, and IRL (KXT). She is passionate about developing accessible approaches to dance and bringing movement into inclusive spaces. Her practice is grounded in fostering connection, curiosity, and transformation through embodied storytelling.
