Vishnu Arunasalam (He/ him) is a Sri Lankan (Eelam) -born Australian-raised emerging art-maker who lives, works and plays in Darug country, exploring the traditional dance medium of Bharatanatyam with a developing contemporary dance practice. His work explores his South Asian diaspora identity within the contemporary Australian landscape. Vishnu, in his alter-ego, is also a Clinical Nurse Specialist working in the space of End of Life and Palliative Care and hopes to merge these two worlds in his artistic practice. Vishnu presented his first solo contemporary dance work MUGAVARI (Tamil: Identity, literally: address) for the 2024 Out of Studio Program presented by Dirtyfeet which has been instrumental in the development of his artistic practice. He has also worked collaboratively with Dance Makers Collective in their new work ‘All in’ presented at the Sydney festival 2025 .Vishnu continues to develop his emerging contemporary practice under renowned contemporary dancer, Martin Del Amo.
