Anneliese Kirk is a Sydney-based independent artist, and a 2016 graduate from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
At WAAPA, Anneliese performed in works by numerous choreographers including Lewis Major, Justin Rutzou, and Xiao Xiangrong. She also toured to Beijing in 2015 to perform at the BNU International Creative Dance Seminar.
Anneliese began her career as an emerging choreographer in 2017, where she presented her first public performance season at The Blue Room Theatre, as part of their Summer Nights program in the Perth FRINGEWORLD Festival. She has a keen interest in dance-making in terms of research and the embodiment of concepts as a way of better understanding life, humanity and society; especially with regards to the philosophical concept of the rhizome and lines of flight. She enjoys the process of choreographing, finding it interesting to observe and reflect upon the serendipitous transformations that occur from initial idea to final product.
Anneliese teaches across a number of schools in Sydney. To kids through to adults, both with and without disability. And is an advocate for opportunities that enable dance to be accessible to all.
