Double Beat explores our constant pulse, heart-beat and life source in a closely interwoven partnership of sound and movement. From three weeks after fertilisation to death we have a beat that sits within us, for most it is a constant presence, until it simply, stops. At our six week scan I saw the fast, flickering movement of my babies heart beat for the first time. Seeing this fast pulse astounded me. That evolving rhythm would be a relative constant for the rest of his life, his body was not yet fully formed, his beat had begun. It made me aware of how disconnected we can often be to this life force and rhythm that we carry within us. This work allows space for our audience to connect more deeply to their own rhythms and inner workings of their own body. It is a celebration of the human body, reflection and connection to life and energy.
